Popular Werribee Head Coach John Lamont has signed a two year contract extension which will see him locked into the Tigers until at least the end of the 2017 season.
CEO Mark Penaluna made the announcement to the players and staff and summed up the feelings of the club:
“We are delighted that John has agreed to continue as Senior Coach for the next two years. After being finalists in 2014 we are hopefully heading there again this year. John’s enthusiasm and desire for the success of the club is something that is respected and admired by everyone.”
As a premiership player with the club, and now in his second year in the top job, Lamont has a special affinity with Avalon Airport Oval.
“It is a very important part of my history and my future. I thank John Nicol and the board and Mark Penaluna for their continued support in my vision for the club .We have a lot of challenges in front of us but I feel we are building the platform for continued success. I certainly wanted to be part of that over the next few years. Right now though my focus, and that of the coaches and players, is making finals this year.”
