Werribee Football Club CEO Mark Penaluna was awarded Life Membership to the Western Region Football League at the league’s recent season launch. Mark’s long association with the competition began as a junior player with the Port Melbourne Colts. Mark played nearly 200 senior games and around 180 junior games with the club playing in 9 premierships. He served as Club Administrator for the Colts from 1992 to 1998 and was Club Administrator of the Year in 1995.
Mark was the CEO of the FDFL/WRFL from 1998 to 2003 and in that time was instrumental in the smooth transition of the name change, and was a driving force behind the very successful television program The Hammerheads, which gave the league national exposure and meant financial survival for several clubs.
Mark has been CEO at Werribee since 2003 and has maintained a strong working relationship with the WRFL, especially during finals which have been at Avalon Airport Oval in recent years. Mark has always offered his assistance to local clubs and this recognition is well deserved.
