Werribee and Footscray are again set to vie for the Health West Cup when they square off at Victoria University Whitten Oval on Saturday.
Now in its third year, the Health West Cup is a joint initiative between the two clubs, Western Health, and Mercy Health and has been created to raise awareness of the vital medical services provided across Melbourne’s west.
Among these services are those provided by the Werribee Mercy Hospital, which is administered by Western Health and Mercy Health and which is currently undergoing an $85 million redevelopment to improve its delivery of life-saving treatment to the Wyndham community.
The match kicks off at 5pm, with gold-coin donations being taken on entry.
Werribee’s Greatest Shave
As a further show of support for the work of Western Health and Mercy Health, Werribee club stalwart Nathan Laracy will be forgoing his formidable facial fur for Werribee’s Greatest Shave on Wednesday, April 26.
Lara will go under the razor in the name of charity, having set a fundraising target of $10,000 to go towards the new Werribee Mercy Hospital Critical Care Unit.
On hand for the event will be Tigers’ number-one ticket holder and facial hair expert Merv Hughes, who will offer his support to Laracy through the ordeal while serving up plenty of his famous one-liners.
