It’s been a tough couple of weeks for Werribee’s defenders, with Michael Sodomaco, Nick Buykx, and Nathan Laracy all under an injury cloud as the end of the season approaches.
Sodomaco tore his hip flexor against Collingwood at Etihad Stadium last fortnight and is now in doubt for the rest of the year, while Buykx has been ruled out indefinitely after dislocating his shoulder in the dying stages of Sunday’s clash with Williamstown.
Earlier on Sunday, Laracy suffered another setback after what has been a frustrating 18 months, the Tigers stalwart injuring his foot while playing his 100th club game against the Seagulls in the Development League.
The injuries come as a cruel blow to all three players and the club as whole, with Werribee’s VFL side looking to secure a spot in the finals and its Development League side preparing to play its final two games before the competition draws to a close.
In more positive news, midfielder Dom Brew will be hoping to return this week after sitting out last round with ankle soreness.
