Werribee has embraced a fresh look for its future as a standalone VFL club by unveiling a new logo for the 2018 season.
The design radically overhauls previous incarnations of the logo, showcasing a simpler, cleaner look that utilises a stylised version of the iconic “W” emblem from the club guernsey in the traditional Werribee gold.
The logo is available in two slightly different versions: one featuring black trim and the words “Werribee Football Club” in black text for use on light-coloured backgrounds; and one featuring white trim and white text for use on dark-coloured backgrounds.
Werribee CEO Mark Penaluna said the timing was right for the rebrand given the big changes already in store for season 2018.
“We are embarking on an exciting new chapter through our move to become a standalone VFL club for the first time in 19 years and the opening of our redeveloped training and administration facility at Avalon Airport Oval, so our new logo is a reflection of that,” said Penaluna.
“By centering on the ‘W’ emblem, our new logo is more streamlined and better emphasises our strongest visual brand asset.”
The new logo will be rolled out across Werribee’s digital channels before gradually being updated across the club’s other visual communications spaces.
“There are a number of different incarnations of our logo that appear in many areas across the club and the wider community, so it will take some time to update all of these, but we are ultimately working towards a more consistent and uniform brand,” said Penaluna.
