Tigers Storm Home
In the end it was a three goal win to the new look Werribee Tigers but it certainly was not the start everyone expected. The Tigers defence allowed 10 first half goals which did not please senior Coach John Lamont.
“In the first half we didn’t get our defence right. We just didn’t defend well enough. We spoke to the players at half time about the mindset of defending and how we wanted to defend. Don’t just get towed around be proactive. We were really looking down the barrel at half time”
The Tigers tore it up in the second half restricting Essendon to just a goal a quarter while slamming on 10 of their own much to the relief of the coach.
“Our ball movement improved which was pleasing and to come from 4 or 5 goals down was good. We got an even contribution from all 23 players and to get the four points at an away venue was great”
The development side played Port Melbourne at North Port Oval on Sunday and recorded an emphatic 45 point win. The win was set up with an 8 goal to one first quarter. This Sunday the Tigers travel to Frankston.
