Cassidy Parish will make his VFL debut for Werribee when it hosts old rival Port Melbourne at Avalon Airport Oval on Saturday.
The highly touted 19-year-old midfielder has been confirmed as Werribee’s 23rd player for the home clash with the Borough on the back of two standout performances for Vic Country in the recent Young Guns series games.
Parish, a former Winchelsea junior and the reigning Geelong Falcons best and fairest, has also been a key contributor for Geelong Football League side Grovedale this year, regularly featuring in the Tigers’ best players.
Versatile big man Julian Lockwood is also in the frame for a potential VFL debut, having been named on the initial 27-man squad.
Selection in the final 23 would cap off a whirwind month for the former Northern Territory Thunder key-position utility, who this week was confirmed as Werribee’s first mid-season signing as a replacement for injured ruckman Nick Nott.
Outoing 23rd player Joel Bennett has been retained in the extended lineup along with defenders Matthew Brett and Nick Buykx.
Saturday’s match kicks off at 3pm.
