Werribee returns to Melbourne Avalon Airport Oval for the final time in 2025, hosting Southport in their last home game of the season this Saturday.

With finals no longer in reach following a Round 18 loss to Richmond, Werribee will be looking to finish strong in front of home fans in what marks the second Grand Final rematch of the year.

It’ll be the first time Southport faces Werribee in Melbourne since last year’s drought-breaking Grand Final, with the Sharks having taken out a three-goal win in their first encounter of 2025 back in Round 1 on the Gold Coast.

Werribee currently sits 16th on the ladder and, after starting the season 5–4, has managed just one win from its past seven matches in a campaign that has seen 21 debutants pull on the Big W, with two rounds remaining.

Werribee comes into the clash refreshed after a 14-day break following a Round 19 bye, while Southport arrives off the back of a loss to Box Hill, which ended a three-game winning streak. Last year’s Grand Finalists remain inside the top four, currently sitting third on the ladder.
