Werribee Outlasted by Williamstown at DSV Stadium
23 June 2025

Werribee were unable to capitalise on a three-quarter time lead on Saturday, falling to Williamstown by 21 points at DSV Stadium in Round 13.
In windy conditions in a seesawing contest, the hosts surged home with a six-goal final quarter to hand Werribee a third consecutive loss, 13.15 (93) to 11.6 (72).
Bior Malual continued his outstanding 2025 campaign with another best on ground display, earning Werribee’s Totally Workwear Player of the Match. The wingman finished with 20 disposals and five marks in another classy performance.
Jay Dahlhaus provided a spark up forward, booting a team-high three goals all in the third term, while ruckman Sam Conway dominated the hitouts with 57 to go along with his strong follow-up work around the ground.
Inside midfielder Dom Brew was once again prolific at the contest, racking up 33 disposals, 16 tackles and 13 clearances in a trademark performance.
In a recurring theme of recent weeks, Werribee started slowly, held goalless in the first quarter while kicking against the wind. But Williamstown weren’t able to fully capitalise, kicking just one goal from six scoring shots to take an 8-point lead into quarter time, 1.5 (11) to 0.3 (3).
It took less than a minute into the second quarter for Werribee to respond, with Hudson Garoni converting a set shot from directly in front to register the first goal.
The second quarter proved an even contest, with both sides trading blows. Brady Wright and Harry Miller added majors from set shots before a long-range bomb from Dom Brew gave Werribee four goals for the term and narrowed the margin to just three points at half time.
Werribee came out firing after the break, with Jay Dahlhaus capitalising on back-to-back 50-metre penalties to kick two quick goals. Anthony Depasquale then converted a set shot after forcing a turnover inside 50.
Williamstown responded with the next three goals to reclaim the lead, but Werribee had answers late in the quarter. Dahlhaus nailed his third of the term, and a strong contested mark from Sam Conway set up a running goal from Daly Andrews to give Werribee a five-point lead at the final break.
The Tigers extended that margin early in the final term through a Harry Maguire snap, but it would prove to be their second-last goal of the game. Maguire added a late consolation to make it seven games from his last eight with multiple goals, but it was Williamstown who dominated the final term, kicking six goals to two to run out 21-point winners.
Werribee now head into the bye on the back of three straight defeats and will look to reset before hosting the Giants at Melbourne Avalon Airport Oval in 12 days’ time.
