Wright Returns After Breakout Debut Season
07 November 2025
After a breakout first year at VFL level, Brady Wright will return to Melbourne Avalon Airport Oval in 2026.
The 21-year-old becomes Werribee’s 14th confirmed re-signing as the club looks forward to the 2026 season.
Wright joined Werribee for the 2025 season on the back of a standout year at local level with Darley in the Ballarat Football Netball League. One of two recruits from the Devils alongside Mace Cousins, the key forward booted 30 goals and earned selection in the BFNL Interleague side, putting himself firmly on the radar for a VFL opportunity.
After an impressive pre-season, which included a two-goal performance in Werribee’s practice match against the Bullants at Mars Stadium, Wright earned his place in the Round 1 side heading up the attack alongside Hudson Garoni.
He made an immediate impact, taking multiple contested marks and kicking three first-half goals, finishing with five marks in an outstanding first appearance at VFL level.
It was the bookends of the season where Wright showed his potential at the level, closing out the year with another three-goal, six-mark performance to go with 11 disposals. He ended his debut campaign with 14 goals from 14 games.
Speaking on his re-signing, Wright said: “I really enjoyed my first year with the Werribee Football Club, and I’m very excited to be back for 2026. The experience has been memorable so far, and I’m looking forward to building on what we started last season and pushing even harder for the results we know we’re capable of.”
Football Manager Kyle Hartigan praised the progress Wright made across his first year.
“Brady had a great first season at the level and took some really strong steps in his development."
He added, “We’re looking forward to seeing what he can produce in his second season after a big pre-season. He’ll be a pivotal part of our forward line in 2026.”
It is time to write the next chapter in the history of the Werribee Football Club.
