Charlie Lazzaro Brings AFL Experience to Werribee for 2026
16 November 2025
The big signings continue for Werribee, with Charlie Lazzaro crossing from Port Melbourne for the 2026 VFL season.
The 23-year-old midfielder brings 39 games of AFL experience to the club and becomes the most AFL-experienced player on Werribee’s list. He is also the third player with AFL experience on the current list, joining Emerson Jeka and Cooper Whyte.
Crossing from Port Melbourne for the 2026 VFL season, he will have a familiar face around the centre bounce as he reunites with former Borough ruckman Ajang Kuol mun, who also signed with Werribee for 2026.
Playing all 18 games for Port Melbourne this year, Lazzaro was dominant in the engine room. He led his side for disposals, averaging 27.1 per game, along with more than five tackles and four clearances.
The 2025 season was his first at Port Melbourne after four years in the AFL with North Melbourne. He joined the Kangaroos with pick No.36 in the 2020 AFL Draft and debuted in Round 1 of the 2021 season.
He showed his talents at AFL level when he closed out the 2023 season with a 26-disposal performance against the Gold Coast Suns, while his best in 2024 came with a 16-disposal, one-goal outing against Carlton at Marvel Stadium.
Lazzaro was also recognised in 2022 for his voluntary work within North Melbourne’s community program, The Huddle, receiving the Peter Scanlon Community Award. The Huddle is familiar to Werribee fans, with its Wyndham program operating out of our own facilities at Melbourne Avalon Airport Oval.
He was drafted out of the Geelong Falcons, where he played in 2019 alongside current Werribee captain Jesse Clark and fellow leadership group member Jay Dahlhaus.
It is time to write the next chapter in the history of the Werribee Football Club.
